Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: January 9, 2006 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 06 -04, Receive Quotes and Award Contract, 2006 Ditch <br />and Pond Cleaning <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Quotes were received and publicly opened on December 22, 2005. The results of the <br />quotes are presented below. City Council action is required to award a contract to the <br />lowest responsible bidder. <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />Arnt Construction Company, Inc. $36,404.00 <br />C.W. Houle, Inc. No Bid <br />Engineers Estimate $49,300.00 <br />Attached is a copy of the submitted quote. <br />This project will perform the necessary maintenance work as part of the Surface Water <br />Management. Arnt construction has satisfactorily performed this type of work <br />previously for the City of Lino Lakes. <br />The funding for this work is provided by the Surface Water Management Fund. This <br />fund was established in 1992 as a revenue source in order to meet the "administrative, <br />planning, ponding, mitigation, and water quality needs" of the City. It is reimbursed <br />through assessments to new subdivisions and is also collected as property owners <br />connect to City utilities. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 06 -04, accepting quotes and awarding a contract to Arnt <br />Construction Company, for the 2006 Ditch and Pond Cleaning project. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option No. 2 - Staff recommends adoption of Resolution Number 06 -04. <br />
