•
•
AGENDA ITEM 6E
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jim Studenski, City Engineer
COUNCIL MEETING DATE: June 12, 2006
TOPIC: Resolution No. 06 - 94, East Rondeau Lake
Road Storm Sewer Repair
VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
On June 1, 2006 city staff was notified that the culvert that conveys flow from
Rondeau Lake easterly to Hardwood Creek (under East Rondeau Lake Road)
had failed. The failure was caused by an old metal culvert rotting away. This
culvert is located north of 8166 East Rondeau Lake Road. City staff has
provided temporary repairs to the culvert and roadway to reopen the road until
permanent repairs are made.
Because of the large and continual flow of water, the existing metal pipe will be
replaced by a gasketed reinforced concrete dome style pipe 53" in diameter at
the base and 34" diameter at the top.
Estimated costs for this project amount to $17,000. There are no funds
budgeted or available for this extensive of a repair project within the Public
Services Budget. In the absence of any general fund contingency, the only
funding option available is the City's Surface Water Management Fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Resolution Number 06 - 94 be adopted.
