•
•
STAFF ORIGINATOR:
MEETING DATE:
TOPIC
VOTE REQUIRED:
BACKGROUND:
AGENDA ITEM 1G
Julie Bartell, City Clerk
June 26, 2006
Consider Resolution No. 06 -105, Approving a
Permit Application for the Blue Heron Days Parade,
August 19, 2006
Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required)
The Blue Heron Days Committee is finalizing plans for the annual community festival to
take place the weekend of August 19. The Blue Heron Days Parade /Chili Dog Mile is
scheduled to take place on the morning of August 19, 2006, from 11:30 a.m. to
approximately 12:30 p.m. and the committee has submitted an application for a parade
permit.
Mr. Bill Combs, the event coordinator, has been working with city staff on the application
and has provided the following information. He anticipates approximately 75 units in the
parade; the proposed route for the parade would be the same as in 2005, running on
Lake Drive from Marketplace Drive to James Street, with a staging area in the Super
Target parking lot.
The Public Works Department and the Police Department have signed the permit
application with the understanding that the applicants continue to follow their
instructions on safety and signage measures up to and through the time of the parade.
Also, since Lake Drive is a County roadway, approval to close the road with an
appropriate detour is required and city approval can only be granted contingent upon
county authorization.
The attached resolution approves the parade permit application with the noted
contingencies.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve Resolution No. 06 -105 approving a permit application for the Blue
Heron Days Parade /Chili Dog Mile to be held on August 19, 2006.
2. Deny approval of Resolution No. 06 -105
