STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />INTRODUCTION <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM IF <br />Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />March 12, 2012 <br />Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 12 -26 <br />Authorizing New Tobacco License for <br />Corner Express, 7997 Lake Drive <br />Simple Majority <br />There are several commercial buildings located at the intersection of Lake Drive and <br />Main Street one being a gas and convenience mart facility that has been closed for <br />several years. Mr. Todd Steffon, President of TJ Lino Lakes and owner of the facility, <br />is planning on re- opening the store in the coming weeks as a Corner Express. <br />BACKGROUND <br />An application has been submitted by Mr. Steffon for a license to sell tobacco products at <br />the Corner Express. In accordance with the City Code Section 602, Regulating the Sale, <br />Possession and use of Tobacco Products and Tobacco Related Devices, this business <br />requires a Tobacco License from the City of Lino Lakes to engage in sales of any tobacco <br />products. After review of the application, staff has determined that this applicant <br />qualifies for such Tobacco License. <br />As required by the City Code, the applicant has undergone a background investigation <br />that indicated no problems or any reason to deny the application. <br />The applicant is fully aware that license approval is subject to all the provisions and <br />conditions of the laws of the city, state and of the federal government. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt Resolution No. 12 -26, approving the application for a tobacco license for Corner <br />Express, 7997 Lake Drive. <br />
