Wedel, City Engineer <br />MEETING DATE: August 27, 2012 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution No. 12 -83, Accepting Quotes and Awarding a <br />Contract for the 2012 Stormwater Maintenance Project <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND <br />As part- of the annual budget, the City Council approved $125,000 for surface water improvement <br />projects in 2012. The City is required to make repairs and maintain our existing storm water <br />infrastructure per our MS4 permit with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. In 2011, the City <br />replaced the collapsed culvert under the Otter Lake Service Road as part of this program. This year <br />we have included a number of high priority areas that need repairs and combined them into one <br />proj ect. <br />The proposed project areas are shown on the attached map. There are a total of nine different <br />locations in this year's project and they include such items as culvert replacement and cleaning, <br />sediment removal from ponds, and pond outlet control structure repairs. Plans were prepared and <br />sent out to contractors for quotes. The City received two quotes and they are as follows: <br />Contractor Amount of bid <br />C.W. Houle <br />Penn Contracting <br />$75,268.00 <br />$117,675.00 <br />Both companies requested an extension of the completion date outlined in the specifications. We <br />had included a completion date of _September 30, 2012. C.W. Houle -has requested a completion <br />date of October 19, 2012 and_staff is comfortable with the proposed request. <br />The total budget for this project breaks down as follows: <br />Engineering (Approved by City Council 7 /9/12) $15,000.00 <br />C.W. Houle Quote $75,268.00 <br />Total $90,268.00 <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends adoption of Resolution 12 -83 Accepting Quotes and Awarding a Contract for the <br />2012 Stormwater Maintenance Project. <br />
