SCHOOL <br />LEAGUE TRIPLE A AWARD Two <br />students were nominated for Excellence <br />in Academics, Arts and Athletics (Triple <br />A) Award that acknowledges one male <br />and one female senior with a 3.0 GPA or <br />higher and participate in athletics, fine <br />arts, theater, speech and music. <br />ATHENA AWARD Jill Conrad is the <br />recipient of the Athena Award which <br />recognizes top, senior female athletes. <br />Over 75 outstanding athletes from area <br />schools were honored. <br />2014 ALL -STATE BAND Two students <br />were selected for the 2014 All -State Band. <br />STATE CHORAL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE <br />CONTEST Michael Welch received a "Best <br />(E' Site" commendation at the contest. <br />SPEECH TOURNAMENT TEAM More <br />Centennial students qualified for State <br />than any other school and took second <br />place at the State Competition. <br />NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY <br />SCHOLARSHIP Tasha Erding is the <br />recipient of a Regional Honor Society <br />Scholarship. She was one of 200 State <br />finalists; one of 53 State winners; and <br />one of nine regional winners named. <br />MINNESOTA GIRLS STATE AMERICAN <br />LEGION COMPETITION Caprisha <br />Buchanan was honored as Girls State <br />Governor, the highest honor possible. <br />MINNESOTA HONOR CHOIR Morgan <br />Koenig was selected to sing in the <br />American Choral Directors Association <br />9/10 Honor Choir. <br />MINNESOTA STATE THESPIAN SOCIETY <br />CONFERENCE Centennial's one -act play, <br />Slide/Over, was one of nine one -act plays <br />chosen for performance at the conference. <br />In addition, two students received the <br />top rating of "Accomplished" for their <br />events, and two students, serving as State <br />Student Board Members, helped organize <br />and lead the conference. <br />HENNEPIN THEATRE TRUST Once Upon <br />a Mattress received several awards from <br />Hennepin Theatre Trust, including <br />"Honorable Mention Vocal Performance <br />by a Chorus." The production received <br />the highest number of individual honors. <br />CENTENNIAL MIDDLE SCHOOL <br />KNOWLEDGE BOWL took First place <br />out of 49 teams at the metro Grand <br />Finale Meet. <br />MINNESOTA STATE GEOGRAPHIC BEE <br />SEMIFINALIST Ellie Jensen, Centennial <br />Middle School student, competed in the <br />2014 Minnesota State Geographic Bee <br />sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. <br />WORDMASTERS'" CHALLENGE <br />Rachel Jolin, a student at Centennial <br />Middle School, achieved individual <br />Highest Honors in the WordMasters' <br />Challenge, a national vocabulary <br />competition involving nearly 150,000 <br />students. Thirteen middle school <br />students competed. <br />ST. CLOUD STATE UNIVERSITY MATH <br />CONTEST The Centennial Middle School <br />team placed third in their division, <br />competing against students from 51 <br />schools in Minnesota and Wisconsin. <br />FUTURE PROBLEM SOLVING PROGRAM <br />INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION <br />17 students qualified to compete at the <br />International Competition, competing <br />against students from over 35 states <br />and 15 countries. <br />NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY'S <br />MIDWEST ACADEMIC TALENT SEARCH <br />(NUMATS) ACHIEVEMENTS Michelle Li, <br />Centerville Elementary, received the <br />highest total score in math, English, <br />science and reading among all third <br />grade Minnesota Explore testers. <br />Christopher Meng, Centennial Middle <br />School, had the highest score in <br />Minnesota on the mathematics portion <br />of the ACT. NUMATS offers above - <br />grade -level testing for high -performing <br />students in grades 3 through 9. <br />LIONS DRUG AWARENESS POSTER <br />CONTEST Kenlee Duong, Centennial <br />Elementary School, is the recipient of <br />a State Award from the Lions Club. <br />
