D D')/ \ D - <br />Centennial schools are safe and filled <br />with respectful students who are a <br />wonderful reflection of and contributors <br />to the community. <br />CLOSING <br />ACHIEVEMENT GAP <br />REWARD <br />SCHOOLS <br />Minnesota Department <br />of Education recognized <br />Centennial Elementary & <br />Golden Lake Elementary <br />as Reward Schools for their <br />high performance and overall <br />improvement. <br />READING <br />MATH <br />SPECIAL ED <br />SCORES ABOVE <br />STATE AVERAGE <br />Special education students <br />scored above state's average <br />in reading & math. <br />QUALITY <br />OPPORTUNITIES <br />PRESCHOOL <br />434 CHILDREN were screened through <br />the District's Early Childhood Screening. <br />220 CHILDREN attended weekly Early <br />Childhood Family Education and School <br />Readiness Preschool classes along <br />with their parents. <br />116 were enrolled in KC Preschool <br />through Kids Club. <br />UNIVERSITY <br />PARTNERSHIPS <br />Centennial is partnering with Minnesota <br />State University, Mankato to establish <br />the AVID (Advancement Via Individual <br />Determination) program, designed to <br />prepare high school students for college <br />and other postsecondary opportunities. <br />The partnership also provides a pipeline <br />of teachers into the classroom through <br />the creation of a strong mentorship <br />program. <br />The District is also partnering with Anoka <br />Ramsey Community College to provide <br />tutors for ninth and tenth grade students <br />enrolled in AVID courses. <br />
