• <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3D <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Lisa Hogstad - Osterhues, Deputy Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: November 25, 2013 <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No. 13 -126 Apply to the State of <br />Minnesota for Accessibility Improvement to Polling Place. <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Council is being asked to approve a grant application to the Secretary of State for Federal funds <br />to install an electric handicapped door opener on existing doors at Living Waters Lutheran <br />Church at 865 Birch Street. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Minnesota Secretary of State is soliciting grant proposals for Election Assistance for <br />• Individuals with Disabilities (EAID) Grant Program. Living Waters Church has submitted <br />information to the City to apply for the grant. If the grant is submitted and awarded in the full <br />amount of $6,995, the City will enter into a hold harmless agreement with Living Waters <br />Church. The City will not be accountable for liability, insurance, or monetary responsibility <br />that may be involved. <br />If the grant is not fully funded in the amount of $6,995, the City will not contribute funding <br />towards this project. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of the Resolution 13 -126, move forward with submitting grant <br />proposal to the State of Minnesota for handicapped accessibility. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
