• <br />• <br />Council Member ?ei ner <br />its adoption: <br />introduced the following resolution and moved <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 07-21 <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT OF THE COMPREHENSIVE <br />PLAN TO INCORPORATE THE HODGSON ROAD /COUNTY ROAD J <br />MASTER PLAN INTO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes has adopted a Comprehensive Plan to guide <br />community growth in a rational and responsible manner through 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, MN Statutes 462.355 authorizes the governing body to amend the <br />comprehensive municipal plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has prepared the Hodgson Road/Co. Rd. J Master Plan to provide <br />guidance for future development of the study area; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lino Lakes Planning and Zoning Board held a public hearing on <br />December 13, 2006 and recommended that the City Council approve the Comprehensive <br />Plan amendment on January 10, 2007; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Hodgson Road/Co. Rd. J Master Plan and <br />Comprehensive Plan amendment promotes the following public purposes, which are <br />listed in the Mixed Use section of the Comprehensive Plan: <br />a) provision of housing unit variety that contributes toward meeting housing goals, such <br />as medium density, high- density, and mixed -use developments in locations <br />designated for them in the comprehensive plan <br />The Policy Plan section of the comprehensive plan includes the following <br />residential goals: <br />1. Provide a healthy variety of housing types, styles and choices to meet the <br />changing life cycle needs of the Lino Lakes Population. <br />3. Promote multiple family housing alternatives as an attractive life cycle <br />housing option. <br />By changing the land use designation from Commercial to Mixed Use in the <br />specified area, the amendment will allow for a variety of residential development <br />in an area near land guided for Medium Density Residential use. The new Mixed <br />Use area allows for mixed use development that would not be allowed with the <br />Commercial land use designation. <br />
