82 <br />October 5, 1981 <br />In his opening statement regarding the proposed levy, Mr. Schumacher <br />state that he had contacted the County Auditor and received the following <br />information on a home with a $60,000.00 limited market value: <br />Year Taxes Mill Rate <br />1979 $1,579 107. <br />1980 1,106 107 <br />1981 637 104 <br />If the resolution is accepted and if the County, School District and <br />other levies remain the same and the City's assessed valuation remained <br />the same, taxes on the $60,000.00 home would increase approximately $75.00. <br />Mr. Jaworski moved to adopt Resolution 81 -34. Mrs. Elsenpeter seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />CONSIDERATION OF THE 1982 BUDGET <br />Mr. Schumacher presented the preliminary 1982 budget and suggested that <br />the Council review it by department. <br />Mayor 8 Council - Mr. McLean questioned the need for the proposed expen- <br />diture of $1000 for the League of Minnesota Cities convention. <br />There was discussion on the merit of this convention. <br />Election 8 Voter Reistration - There was discussion regarding a referendum <br />and Mr. McLean suggested putting $1000 in the budget for this <br />possibility. <br />Administration - the item Subscriptions 8 Dues was questioned. Mr. <br />Schumacher explained how this money was sued and suggested it be <br />set at $500.00. <br />Police Department - There was discussion regarding the proposed charges by <br />the County Sheriff's department. Mr. McLean asked Chief Myhre <br />if our Police Department provides any coverage for the County <br />park and if so does the City get reimbursed for this service. <br />Chief Myhre said his department provides back up service and does <br />sometimes provide service in personal injury instances. Ths City <br />is not reimbursed for this service. <br />Mr. Schumacher was dirested to write a Resolution to be sent to the County <br />Park Department stating that the Lino Lakes Police Department will respond <br />only to emergency medicals within the park and if he receives enforcement <br />calls, direct these calls to the Sheriff's Department. The Lino Lakes <br />Police Department will also provide backup service when requested by the <br />Sheriff's Department. <br />A fie minute recess was called. <br />The Council reconvened and Mr. Volk was asked to give his presentation on <br />propane fueled vehicles. Mr. Volk gave a slide presentation indicating the <br />advantages of propane over gasoline and showed the fuel cost and reduced <br />maintenance cost. He said he is proposing to convert three police <br />vehicles, four public works vehicles and the building inspector's car <br />to propane power. He gave the Council Members a booklet he had prepared <br />comparing the cost of propane vehicles to gas vehicles. <br />A second budget meeting was set for Monday, October 19, 1981 at 8:00 P.M. <br />
