He ;expained the
method by which the overall budget for the utility department had been
cut to bring the expenditures more in line with the receipts. This
would necessitate an increase in the sewer rates of $5.00 per quarter.
Mr. Larry Johnson, a resident of the area, reported that he had surveyed
seven surrounding communities this date and all have lower rates than
the City of Lino Lakes. Mr. Johnson felt the current rates were
excessive - not considering another raise.
Mr. Bob Nelson, also from the area, felt they could have installed a
well and septic system and paid for them a couple of time already.
Mr. Marier noted that he has a well and septic system at his location
and it is_not only the installation costs involved with this type of
system - there are other costs involved.
Mayor Benson closed the hearing at 8:36 P.M.
After discussion, Mr. Marier moved to direct the staff to prepare an
ordinance to include the $5.00 per quarter increase in sewer rates to
be considered for the first reading at the November 8, 1982 Council
Meeting.
