258
October 25, 1982
in the Public Works budget for the repairing and rebuilding of the
streets? It was generally felt that the final disposition of this
money should be made after the decision on the final budget had been
done.
Mr. Marier moved to continue this Public Hearing until the Public
Hearing on the overall budget is held. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz.
Motion carried unanimously.
ACCEPTANCE OF COUNTRY LANE
This matter had been tabled from last meeting for clarification. Mr.
Schumacher reported that the Engineer's recommendations were to accept
this street as being completed.
Mr. Marier moved to accept Country Lane. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz.
Motion carried unanimously.
JOINT COUNCIL AND PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETING
The Planning and Zoning Board had requested this meeting for either the
first or third Mond -.g of the month. The Park Board meets on the first
Monday, therefore, the Council set the meeting for the third Monday,
November 15, 1982 at 7:00 P.M.
1
A recess was called at this point in the meeting. The meeting reconvened
at 8:03 P.M.
PUBLIC HEARING WATER AND SEWER RATES
Mayor Benson opened this 'public hearing at 8:04 P.M. He ;expained the
method by which the overall budget for the utility department had been
cut to bring the expenditures more in line with the receipts. This
would necessitate an increase in the sewer rates of $5.00 per quarter.
Mr. Larry Johnson, a resident of the area, reported that he had surveyed
seven surrounding communities this date and all have lower rates than
the City of Lino Lakes. Mr. Johnson felt the current rates were
excessive - not considering another raise.
Mr. Bob Nelson, also from the area, felt they could have installed a
well and septic system and paid for them a couple of time already.
Mr. Marier noted that he has a well and septic system at his location
and it is_not only the installation costs involved with this type of
system - there are other costs involved.
Mayor Benson closed the hearing at 8:36 P.M.
After discussion, Mr. Marier moved to direct the staff to prepare an
ordinance to include the $5.00 per quarter increase in sewer rates to
be considered for the first reading at the November 8, 1982 Council
Meeting. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion carried unanimously.
1
1
