114
Special Council Meeting
October 7, 1983
Mrs. Elsenpeter stated that she fiet she could support a mil rate in
the area of 26. with the maximum bang 28 mils.
Mr. Marier discussed the various areas of the Police Department and
the building department budgets. The items that had been deleted
and some of the alternates were itemized.
Mayor Benson pointed out this meeting is for the purpose of certifying
the levy, not to set the budget.
Mayor Benson listed the items cot or deleted and some of the items to be
added from the alternate list feeling that this figure would result in
a mil rate of 26.9. He thought there were some areas that could be
reduced further and perhaps levy a mil rate of 26.5.
Mayor Benson felt that once the levy is set, then let the department
heads come back to the C ouncil with their priorities as to where the
money alloted is to be spent. He felt the department heads should set
the priorities since they have a better feel for what is needed.
Mrs. Elsenpeter moved to certify the levy at $690,000.00 resulting in
a mil rate of approximately 26 mils. Seconded by Mr. Marier. Motion
carried unanimously.
Mr. Marier moved to adjourn. Seconded by Mrs. Elsenpeter. Aye.
1
These minutes were considered and approved at a regular C ouncil meeting
held on October 24, 1983.
CILL-L-.7a--ty/
Edna L.
