Motion carried unanimously.
OPEN MIKE
Joann Gallaher, representing G. &W. Rehbein, presented the propsoed concept
for a reace track on property located North of Main Street and East of
20th Avenue. She pointed outthe process that has been completed and
noted this concept has been presented to the Metro Council for their
consideration. This proposal has been prepared by Jamb A rchitects of
Forest Lake.
The procedure for the preparation of this concept was discussed by Ms.
Gallaher noting at what point in time this propsoal is at at this time.
She also reported there will be a more complete package for Council
consideration at the next Council meeting.
Mr. Reinert asked how recent this proposal had surfaced in relationship
to the Blaine proposal? He pointed out that this Council had the Chamber
of Commerce had gone on record as supporting the Blaine track.
Ms. Gallaher said she really could not answer that question. There is no
developer involved in this proposal - they had done the study on the
qualifications of the site for a race track.
Mr. Reinert suggested that htis proposal be presented to the Chamber of
C ommerce fortheir reaction to this proposal. He felt there should be
a unified support for site in this area - not a split in the support.
Mayor Benson questioned the size of the site - is it large enough? Ms.
Gallaher said it could be shorter but not any less in the width. It is
plenty large enough to handle a race track.
Mr. Marier questioned the need for an additional interchange from the
freeway. He felt the one interchange is inadequate and asked if there
were any figures on the additional costs for this construction.
Ms. Gallaher said this information would be in the compelte package that
would be preewnted in two weeks.
PARK BOARD REPORT
Mrs. Sarner presented the bids for fencing for Lino Park. The Park Board
had moved to recommend approval of the Century fence bid for the South
line of the park only , to be installed by City Crews.
The fincing for Arena Acres for the tennis courts is to include the
material and installation. This is to include the net and net poles and
had been submitted by Century Fence.
