1
1
1
171
February 13, 1984
The 1984/1985 Council began officially on January 9, 1984. Myself and
Councilman Don Marier were re- elected along with newly elected Council-
man Bill Bohjanen. I fully anticipate this Council will work hard to
continue the good work of the last Council. Every Council member is
responsible for additional liaison appointments. Also, ever Council
member will be spending extra hours in meetings. I thank your for your
dedication.
The City Staff again worked well with the City Council and Residents.
Many time throughout the past year, this Council received letters and
phone calls expressing appreciation and thanks for the help they received
form the City employees. I extend my thanks and those of the Council
for your help and support.
Lino Lakes is also fortunate to have experienced consultants who keep
the needs of the City in mind at all times. The funds allocated in this
area have been extremely productive. The working communications of the
Council, Employees, Consultants, Developers, Residents, and people seek-
ing service from Lino Lakes has improved significantly. In 1984, the
City will again make a special effort in this area.
In 1983, Lino Lakes was again fortunate to have many residents participate
on committees, commissions, task forces, and boards. The Park Board,
Planning and Zoning Board, Charter Commission, Cable Representatives,
Fire Task Force, Economic Development Committee, Zonig Task. Force,
Civil Defense, and all groups made large contributions to the City of
Lino Lakes. Again let me remind all that without their efforts, Lino
Lakes would not progress. In fact, the City would erode. The city is
indeed fortunate to have individuals who are willing to serve. I thank
all of you for your help. The City and residents appreciate your time
efforts. In 1984, the City will again ask you and others to accept
the challenge and participation in their City progress.
In 1983, Lino Lakes accomplished a great deal through everone's efforts.
Listed below are just a few:
1. Adopted City Zoning Ordinance, aoning map and City Code.
2. Finalized M.S.A. funding for the City's road system. The City
expects to receive $225,00 per year.
3. Approzed plans for Senior Center and City Hall expansion and began
construction - funded Senior Center through $126,000 Federal Comm-
unity Development Block Grant.
4. Formed Fire Task Force with Circle Pines, Centerville, Lexington,
and Lino Lakes to look into a District Fire Department.
5. Began working on Special Legislation to help fund the Fire District.
6. Developed certification and compensation plan for supervisory and
non -union employees.
7. Made significant progess in shared services with other cities.
Shared building inspection services with Circle Piens.
