Mr. Reinert seconded the motion. Mr. Bohjanen
asked if the disbursement for the Senior Center is from grant
money. Mr. Schumacher said yes. Mr. Marier asked about the
disbursement for Chase Manhattan Service Corporation. Mr.
Schumacher explained this was for the purchase of the telephone
system. Mr. Marier asked the Clerk to give the Council a breakdown
on the cost of the system. The disbursement to Koffler Sales
Corporation was questioned. Mr. Schumacher explained it was
for four pairs or rubber push bumpers for the squad cars. Mayor
Benson asked why a -truck was rented from Mr. Schwankl. Mr. Volk
explained the City does not have a truck large enough to carry
the water equipment for flushing hydrants.
On voting on the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
OPEN MIKE
Economic Development Committee - Harvey Barth - Mr. Karth appeared
before the Council to give them an update on the Committee's
activities. He explained the Committee is working with a group
who would like to build a hardware store in Lino Lakes. The
problem with the group is the land they wanted to purchase is
not for sale. The group that wanted to build a shopping center,
multi- family housing and office building have now scaled down
their plans to just the shopping center. The Committee is still
working with the group.
The Committee feels that presently there is not enough activity
to warrant two meetings a month. Mr. Bohjanen moved to set Economic
Development Committee meetings every other month beginning in
February, 1985 and moved to have the Committee on call as necessary.
Mr. Marier seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
065
