Lino Lakes is doing a good job dealing
with the current and future'needs of the City.
In closing, it is evident that Lino Lakes is a growing City. Over 6,000 people
now live in our City. The Council must look toward present City and citizen needs
as well as the future needs of the City. The City must make every effort to hold
the - line -on taxes °.and reduce them when-and where possible - -: We have achieved this
in the_past -and must- continue-to do so in the-futurer_- We mush- work-with our legis-
lators during 1985 to relieve -the current tax burden in the.Citg.-- We must look to
future development with the committment of establishing a strong tax base. We
began this process in 1984 and needthe help and understanding of all citizens in
1985 if this -is to be accomplished.
We have a very important sewer proposal facing this Council in the near future.
It is imperative that the decision which is made is the best choice based on all
available data. We have the opportunity to move forward with the sewer project
without compromising our individual principals on sewer assessments. We must
continue to search for solutions to City problems using the philosophy that the
correct solution is available if we search long and hard enough. Shared services
again must be explored, examined and analyzed. We will continue to seek voluntary
help from the organizations within the City.
The City needs individuals to speak up and question Council policy, procedures and
City direction. The Council will listen and respond when and where necessary. We
want to see the best information available when faced with tough decisions.
This year begins the fourth year that I have been Mayor. The progress which has
been made in the past three years is great. The credit goes to many people in-
cluding the Council, City staff, citizens, consultants, commissions, other City
councils, school districts and more. I want to see this progress continue in
1985 and the years ahead.
