06 P,a e Sixteen <br />Parks <br />- 4 - COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 28, 1985 <br />- Two tennis courts were installed at Arena Aczes <br />- Established a park usage policy <br />- Upgraded the City Park ballfields <br />- Decision was made to upgrade LaMotte Park for the citizens who wish to maintain III <br />it <br />Miscellaneous <br />- Metropolitan Waste Control Commission approved a comprehensive sewer plan for <br />the City, assuring utility outlets for the future <br />- City adopted a policy of nondiscrimination <br />- Established a Senior Council to help in'the running of the new Senior Center <br />- Received a certificate of commendation from Governor Perpich's office for the <br />City's participation in the Governor's community improvement program <br />- In an effort to keep the citizens of Lino Lakes abreast of information in:the <br />City, the City sent out a newsletter and bulk mailing with community information <br />for its residents, plus designated two legal newspapers for better coverage <br />Entered into a.joint purchasing agreement established with Hennepin County <br />- Established a Police Commission and Task Force <br />- The Council and staff of the City invited officials from the area School Board, <br />surrounding City-Councils and State Representatives in an attempt-to lower - <br />Centennial School_.District taxes._and other important. issues-- <br />- Bid -ut _the City .ins urance - - <br />- Designed a marketing package for the sale of City lots on Blackduck Drite <br />- Divided the City of Lino Lakes into two precincts t� ease congestion at <br />polling places <br />- Reviewed and updated the City's comprehensive plan <br />- Passed numerous ordinances and policies allowing the City to operate in a <br />more effective and productive manner <br />- Met with the Governor's staff to insure present utilities stay at the Correction, <br />Facility <br />- Finalized - our -new Fire District after four years of work and- study <br />- Continued-to-work with :Shoreview -for the- .extension ;of Ash Street sewer-- - <br />- Lower-fire rating resulting in a significant savings -to affected residents <br />- Working with residents for extending -sewer service on the Weber project <br />While reviewing some; of the accomplishments fdr 1984, it is easy _to conclude .that` <br />1984 was a busy year and many - projects were completed. .1985 will be another busy <br />year for the City. Some of the objectives are: <br />- Hiring a new Police Chief <br />- Opening a Senior kitchen <br />- The completion of the Senior Center parking lot and the finishing of the City <br />Hall landscaping <br />- Country Lakes Park to be partially opened <br />- Establishing a City nursery with first plantings <br />Start a diseased tree treatment and control program <br />- Our first MSA funded projects will begin, including 4th Street sewer improve- <br />ments and the upgrading of the 80th Street bridge <br />- Continue to work with Senator Dahl, Representative Quinn and others to lower <br />Centennial taxes, assuring that Lino Lakes gets its share of fiscal disparities, <br />and prepare legislation for joint services, gas utilities, Fire District retire- <br />ment benefits, etc. <br />- A new study on comparable worth to be issued and reviewed <br />
