080
COUNCIL MEETING
August 26, 1985
Page Eight
A. Review of Construction Calendar for Rice Lake Estates
Improvements - Mr. Davidson outlined for the Council
the time schedule for the installation of utilities
for Rice Lake Estates. He requested permission to
contact the Cities of Circle Pines and Blaine to negotiate
a physical hookup of their water supply. There will
be a delay in construction of the well for municipal
water supply in this area until there is adequate use
for such a facility. In addition, adjoining cities
have been interconnecting their water supply to insure
adequate water for emergencies.
The Council did not see a problem with Mr. Davidson
pursuing these negotiations.
B. Consideration of Water Supply Evaluation in Reshanau
Lake Area - Mr. Davidson and his staff have prepared
a Water Systems Analysis of Lakes Addition #3, #6
and #7 and the report was presented to the Council.
The report describes the present well and indicates
that the system is adequate to serve 200 connections.
Presently, there are 84 homes served by this well and
the possibility of the construction of 136 more. Mr.
Davidson said the well should be capable of adequately
supplying all the lots especiallly if lawn sprinkling
is regulated. He also emphasized that no provision
for fire protection was used in the report.
There was discussion regarding fire protection in the
area. Mr. Reinert suggested using area ponds and Lake
Reshanau in case of a fire emergency. Mr. Davidson
said a siren could be sounded in the area in the event
of a fire and the residents then would know not to
use their water supply.
Mayor Benson asked for Mr. Davidson's recommendation
regarding the City owned lot just south of the well
house. This lot has been put on bids for sale. Mr.
Davidson recommended this lot be held by the City for
future water storage. Mayor Benson asked Mr. Davidson
if he know of any instance where a City utility had
been constructed in a county or Metropolitan Open Space.
Mr. Davidson did not know if this had ever been done.
Mayor Benson asked Mr. Schumacher to determine how
far the four tax forfeit lots on Captain's Place are
from the City well and contact the Anoka County Parks
Director to determine if a well house or elevated water
storage unit could be constructed next to the well
house.
