They also require parks <br />to be at least 10 acres in size so that several types of activi- <br />ties can take place that will appeal to all age groups. They do <br />not like the concept of four year old tots walking up the street <br />to a tot lot. <br />Storm water drainage was discussed. Fire coverage was also dis- <br />cussed. Shoreview gets its protection from the Vadnais Volunteer <br />Fire Department. <br />Mayor Wedell explained their Civil Defense Siren Plan. Many <br />years ago sirens were installed in areas of greater population <br />concentration. Several years ago Shoreview hired a consultant <br />to come in and prepare a civil defense warning plan. Since then <br />sirens have been installed according to this plan. Revenue Shar- <br />ing moneys were used for the purchase of stationary horn sirens. <br />It was their opinion that Revenue Sharing funds should not be <br />used as part of the operating budget because Revenue Sharing is <br />unpredictable. <br />Mayor Benson thanked the Shoreview Council and staff for coming <br />this evening.
