is
In 1986, the Public Works Department will be planning for expanded
Igrowth in their department. With the growth of the City increasing
every year, the need for city services in the area of utilities and
maintenance also grows. This department will need to adapt to this
, change thus creating the need for expansion and reorganization for
a more efficient operation.
•
One of the priorities within the Fire Department will be the site
selection of the new fire hall. The size of the district dictates
that a more centrally located position be found. The Council plans
to work closely with the Fire Commision on this issue.
In keeping with this Council's policy of cooperation with our neigh-
bors, the City is looking into programs such as shared equipment and
Ishared services contracts. These programs will not only save the
residents of participating communities money, it will also foster
better communications between us and our neighboring communities.
The City will continue its quest for special legislation that will
enable us to obtain assistance and promote shared services for muni-
cipalities.
In looking to the future of Lino Lakes, it becomes evident that a
need arises for strong planning programs. I will be requesting
five year plans from the Economic Develoment Committee, Planning and
Zoning Conuuission andthe Park and Recreation Board. By having these
Ipolices in place, the decision- making process for future development
will be more regimented and consistent with the needs of the City.
In conclusion, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the
293
