COUNCIL MINUTES September 22, 2014 <br />APPROVED <br />1 CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />2 MINUTES <br />3 <br />4 DATE : September 22, 2014 <br />5 TIME STARTED : 6:30 p.m. <br />6 TIME ENDED : 8:25 p.m. <br />7 MEMBERS PRESENT : Council Member Stoesz, Kusterman, Rafferty, <br />8 Roeser, and Mayor Reinert <br />9 MEMBERS ABSENT : None <br />10 <br />11 Staff members present: City Administrator Jeff Karlson; Community Development Director Michael <br />12 Grochala; City Planner Katie Larsen; City Engineer Diane Hankee; Finance Director Al Rolek; Chief <br />13 of Police John Swenson; and City Clerk Julie Bartell <br />14 <br />15 PUBLIC COMMENT <br />16 <br />17 Jesse Fronik, 904 Kelly Street, read part of a letter that was submitted for the record and is on file at <br />18 city hall. The letter concerns the city's withdrawal from the Centennial Fire District. The letter was <br />19 signed by Centennial Fire District firefighters. Council Member Roeser suggested that the city wants <br />20 the participation of the firefighters in the process. <br />21 <br />22 SETTING THE AGENDA <br />23 <br />24 The agenda was amended to add Resolution No. 14 -112 to Item 6C. <br />25 <br />26 SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />27 <br />28 Chain of Lakes Rotary President Sam Alley- Mr. Alley offered thanks on behalf of the Rotary for <br />29 assistance provided for Blue Heron Days. It's an event that keeps growing and is great for the <br />30 community. Special thanks to the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department. Mayor Reinert <br />31 thanked Mr. Alley for the Rotary's many contributions to the community. <br />32 <br />33 Presentation of Mayor's Award for Excellence to the Lino Lakes Public Safety Department - <br />34 Mayor Reinert presented the award to Public Safety Director Swenson noting that the police force has <br />35 been publicly recognized as the best in the Twin Cities area and number two in the state. He offered <br />36 thanks to the entire public safety team, including staff, volunteers and officers. <br />37 <br />38 Superintendent Brian Detz, Centennial School District No. 12 — Mr. Detz and staff distributed a <br />39 report on the school district that includes the stories, students and communities of the district. He <br />40 noted a levy campaign for the fall and provided written information outlining needs and plans. <br />41 <br />42 CONSENT AGENDA <br />43 <br />44 Council Member Roeser moved to approve the Consent Agenda, Items 1A through 1D, as presented. <br />45 Council Member Kusterman seconded the motion.
