Resolution No. 07 -145, Approving Change <br />Order No. 5, Lake Drive /35W Improvement <br />Project <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On May 14, 2007 the City Council awarded the Lake Drive /I -35W Improvement Project <br />to Lunda Construction Company in the amount of $7,531,701.71. Construction is <br />underway with paving of the northbound lanes anticipated the week of the 10t ". The <br />northbound center pier of the bridge has been completed and the northeast and <br />southeast bridge abutments are anticipated to be completed within the next month. <br />Change Order No. 3. Due to a delay in the award and approval of the contract the date <br />for placement of the bridge concrete wearing course was pushed back beyond the <br />Mn /DOT required placement date of October 1St. In order to remain on schedule <br />Mn /DOT recommended a full depth deck pour using a different concrete mix. The net <br />amount of the change order is $20,041.88. <br />Change Order No. 4 is a deduct for concrete materials that failed to meet specifications. <br />Mn /DOT Concrete Office has determined that the material can remain in place at a <br />reduced price. The change order represents a credit in the amount of $869.00. <br />Change Order No. 5. In August the City approved Change Order No. 2 eliminating the <br />majority of the concrete median islands with a irrigated landscape system. The change <br />order reduced the quantity for four inch concrete walk from 23,758 square feet to a <br />balance of 4,680 square feet. The contract with Lunda Construction includes a <br />provision that allows for an adjustment to a unit price for contract items that underrun <br />• less than 75% of the contract bid quantity. Accordingly the contractor has requested a <br />
