CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />TITLE: Deputy Public Safety Director <br />DEPARTMENT: Public Safety <br />DIVISION: Police Services <br />SUPERVISOR: Public Safety Director <br />STATUS: Full-time/Non-Union/Exempt <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br />CITY is :0F <br />IN HKES <br />To plan, direct, manage and evaluate Police Division operations, ensuring that law enforcement <br />services are provided throughout the community and that citizens are regularly engaged at the <br />neighborhood level through a wide variety of community policing and education initiatives. This <br />position is a member of the public safety senior management team. <br />ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS <br />1. Collaborate with the public safety management team on cross training, non -firefighting <br />incident activities, and emergency management plans for the City of Lino Lakes. <br />2. Manage, direct, and evaluate daily operations of the Police Services Division in a manner <br />consistent with professional standards, department policies, and the public safety action <br />plan. <br />3. Develop an effective Police Division through continuous improvement strategies. This <br />includes analyses of operations, decisions, or recommendations related to Police Division <br />policies and procedures. <br />4. Responsible for the development, motivation, and supervision of all Police Division <br />personnel. <br />5. Work with department staff to prepare annual budgets, project budgets, and capital <br />improvement programs; control expenditures within approved limits; ensure maintenance <br />of required records; prepare regular and special reports as required. <br />6. Keep the Public Safety Director informed of police activities and problems on an ongoing <br />basis. <br />7. Ensure effective coordination with Fire Division and other City departments. <br />8. Oversee recruitment, selection, orientation, advancement, and evaluation of police staff to <br />ensure they are effective and successful. <br />1 <br />
