CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 4C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Chief John Swenson <br />MEETING DATE: July 28, 2014 <br />TOPIC: Hiring of an Administrative Assistant <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department is requesting council approval to hire one <br />Administrative Assistant. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 2, 2014, Council approved Resolution 14-50 which directed staff to integrate fire <br />services for the City of Lino Lakes into the Public Safety Department as outlined in the Fire <br />Feasibility Study conducted by Springsted. <br />On June 23, 2014, Council authorized staff to advertise and begin the hiring process for an <br />Administrative Assistant in the Public Safety Department. <br />Staff utilized a recently completed hiring process in the Public Services Department to identify <br />high quality candidates for this position. The hiring process included three interviews, math <br />and editing skills testing, online Microsoft Office skills testing, and background investigation. <br />This hiring process has been extensive and has identified a candidate that will continue the <br />proud tradition of providing high quality public safety services. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the hiring of LouAnn Snell as an Administrative <br />Assistant effective August 17, 2014. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
