July 28, 1980 <br />Mayor Gourley said he had looker at Mrs. Elsenpeter's news letter and asked her to <br />continue. The Clerk is to draw a "pie" noting where the tax dollars are spent. <br />The next item on the agenda was the authorization of the Park Board to have devel- <br />opment plans prepared for Country Lakes and Sunrise Parks - is this money in their <br />budget of to be taken from dedicated funds? <br />Mr. McLean moved to table this request. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion tied, <br />with Mayor Gourley voting, No. Motion failed. <br />Mayor Gourley asked where the money is to be obtained - can this be checked? Mayor <br />Gourley moved that the Park Board be authorized to spend the $2000.00 out of the <br />dedicated funds. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion carried with one No vote, Mr. <br />McLean. <br />Under old business, the question of the LaMotte Park development and the question <br />was what is Centerville plans. Mr. Schumacher reported that the City had purchased <br />10 acres approximately 600 feet North of the Out lot owned by this City. Center- <br />ville has developed a 5 year plan for the development of the Park. The lot owned <br />by Lino Lakes cannot be included as a part of the City park. The Park Board had <br />requested this land be put on the market. <br />There was discussion on the requirements as to the law on this action. Mr. McLean <br />asked Mr. Locher for an opinion on this action, According to the law, this can be <br />done with some specific requirements. <br />Mayor Gourley moved to authorize Mr. Schumacher to arrange for the sale of this pro- <br />perty. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion Carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Gourley was to research the park dedication policy. He had provided each <br />member with a copy of Ord. 21C. The Ordinance calls for Park and Recreational pur- <br />poses. Mayor Gout'ley asked if the placing of a water tower, pump house or fire sta- <br />tion would violate the manner in which lands are taken from plats. Mr. Locher felt <br />it would not. Mayor Gourley felt that it is unneecessary to make any changes in <br />the current park policy. <br />Be it therefore resolved that this Council agrees and supports the petition as pre- <br />sented for the request for a post office. Mr. McLean moved to approve. Seconded by <br />Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion carried unanimously. <br />WHEREAS, the Lino Lakles City Council hereby supports the Lino Lakes Business Associ- <br />ation petition which request issuance of a Post Office and Zip Code for the City, and, <br />WHEREAS, the need for such a request is exemplified by the massive area support <br />given from business, industry and local citizenry, and, <br />WHEREAS, the efficiency of this proposal would allow the United States Postal Ser- <br />vice to eliminate the need of the awkward Five (5) post office system which pre- <br />sently services this community, and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lino Lakes City Council hereby commits itself in whatever supporting <br />efforts maybe necessary to establish its own post office and zip code within the <br />City. <br />NOW THEEEFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that, the Lino Lakes City Council has <br />unanimously approved endorsement of the Lino Lakes Business Association petition and <br />support the justifications identified therein. <br />
