Staff <br />91 continues to work on: <br />92 Recruitment of firefighters; <br />93 - Pension plan; <br />94 - Hiring of a Deputy Director (process underway and includes a good pool of experienced <br />95 candidates); <br />96 Plans for training personnel (through Century College on a flexible schedule). <br />97 <br />98 Regarding equipment, Chief Swenson explained that assets of the Centennial Fire District have been <br />99 evaluated and distribution among the entities selected. He noted that the city has been contacted by <br />100 the Maplewood City Fire Chief who indicates that they have some fire equipment available after <br />101 having consolidated their facilities. In addition staff is looking at contract services for a policy and <br />102 training consultant for the department. The department has also added a "fire service" tab to their <br />103 website, as a way to provide information to the public. <br />104 <br />105 Mayor Reinert thanked Chief Swenson for all his work. Although there have been some differing <br />106 opinions, he feels the data looks good for this model moving into the future. The council's decisions <br />107 on this have been data driven and they will continue to share information as it is available. <br />108 <br />109 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />110 <br />111 There was no report from the Public Services Department. <br />112 <br />113 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT <br />114 <br />115 6A) Saddle Club: i. Resolution No. 14-63, Approving PUD Final Plan /Final Plat; <br />116 ii. Resolution No. 14-64, Approving Development Contract and Planned Unit <br />117 Development Agreement; <br />118 iii. Resolution No. 14-92, Approving Maintenance Agreement Stormwater Management <br />119 Facilities Between Rice Creek Watershed District and the City. <br />120 <br />121 City Planner Larsen reviewed a PowerPoint presentation containing information on the project which <br />122 is a 55 lot subdivision. A site location map was used to indicate lots and roadways. She reviewed the <br />123 history of the development, the density calculations (2.6 units per acre), the phasing, easements for <br />124 utilities and conservation, park dedication funding, transportation and trail plans and the development <br />125 contract. <br />126 <br />127 Council Member Roeser moved to approve Resolution No. 14-63, Resolution No. 14-64 and <br />128 Resolution No. 14-92 as presented. Council Member Kusterman seconded the motion. Motion <br />129 carried on a unanimous voice vote. <br />130 <br />131 6B) Resolution No. 14-93, Accepting Bids and Awarding a Construction Contract for the 2014 <br />132 Mill and Overlay Project — City Engineer Hankee reviewed the staff report. She noted that the bids <br />133 were favorable with the low bid going to Rum River Contracting, a company with whom the city has <br />134 an established work history. <br />3 <br />
