January 19, 1981
public hearings on this project.
Mrs. Elsenpeter said she had talked to the developer of Rohavic Oaks and they are not
interested in sewers for their project.
Mr. Meister said the estimated costs for the construction of the sewer in the area he
had outlined would be approximately $47.45 per front foot.
The petition is from the owner of the 49 Club. Mr. Schumacher reported there are two
alternatives 1) allowing this establishment to hook into the Shoreview sewer, or 2)
extending the City sewer as proposed by Mr. Meister.
In conjunction with the allowing of the connection to the Shoreview sewer, it was
pointed out that this could cause problems in the future. Mr. Schumacher said per-
haps this could be allowed for just the 49 Club with the provisions that a document
is registered stating that when the City installs sewers to that area, the assess-
ments will be paid by that establishment and that they will not oppose sewers in that
area.
Mr. Jaworski felt that the only thisg to do is hold a public hearing for all the
residents along 49 from Birch Street South and find out how many would be interested
in sewers.
After much discussion, it was decided to have an open hearing for all the residents
from Birch Street to Highway 49 for information only. This would be for the pur-
pose of seeking interest in this project.
Mr. Jaworski moved to set this meeting for February 11, 1981 at 8:00 P.M. Second-
ed by Mr. McLean. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. McLean asked that Mr. Locher,
Mr. Meister be present at that meeting.
Consideration of the costs of the Engineering on Andall Street was the next item on
the agenda. Mr. McLean asked Mr. Meister what the original estimate was and Mr.
Meister said, $1768.00. The costs have amounted to approximately $5000.00.
Mr. Meister said that a part of these costs were survey time in locating the right -
of -way to deed to the City. Mr. Meister said that on larger projects, the costs
are on a percentage basis, on small projects, the costs are on an hourly basis. Mr.
McLean felt this was known at the beginning and the costs should have been presented
on the hourly basis. Mr. .-Meister said that a construction problem of peat had been
encountered, the contractor had taken a longer time - instead of 4 to 5 days, it
took approximately 14 days. This would increase the cost per front foot from $27.45
to $32.31.
Mayor Gourley felt that the feasibility report that was presented to the people repre-
sented the estimated cost fairly close - now the actual cost is coming in 25% over
the estimated cost.
Mr. McLean asked that the Engineer take a look again at these costs and hold this
portion of the check for the next meeting. Mr. McLean moved to approve the balance
of the Milner Carley statement with the exception of the $3920.00 portion for Andall
Street. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Schumacher presented a statement for sewer service repair in Shenandoah 1, Lot 1,
Block 2. This is concerned with the area where the sewer stub was disconnected. This
1
