238 <br />January 19, 1981 <br />be looking for other work and that if he did not find work by the summer season, he III <br />might reapply for this position. <br />Mr.Schumacher reported that in today's mail the City had received a notice for un- <br />employment. <br />Mayor Gourley asked Mr. Locher what should this Council do and Mr. Locher said 1) <br />a response with a letter stating that there is no agreement between Paul Borovansky <br />and.the City. And 2) there was no lack of work, - he was not laid off and was not <br />told that he was going to be laid off in the foreseeable future. Mr. Volk said he <br />knew the procedure of the City and that he would probably be laid off around the end <br />of February and that there was no guaranty for re- employment. <br />Mayor Gourley acid a copy of this letter is to be forwarded to the Union. Also, be <br />sent to the unemployment office. <br />Mr. McLean moved to accept Mr. Paul Borovansky's resignation. Seconded by Mr. <br />Kulaszewicz. Mayor Gourley asked that it be shown that this resignation is accepted <br />without the conditions as set forth by Mr. Borovansky. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Schumacher said the staff at Metro Council has contacted him on the status of the <br />Baldwin Lake Court as to when they will be connecting to the interceptor. <br />Mr. Locher said he had talked to Mr. Howard about this but will make a note to con - <br />tact him for a time schedule for this connection. <br />Mr. Schumacher asked about the Ross building. Mr. Locher reported on the letter that III <br />had been writ -en by Mr. Peter Kluegel, City Building Official, asking that the build- <br />ing be removed. Mr. Locher read a letter he had written to Mr. Ross' Attorney, Mr. <br />Strong. Mr. Strong had informed Mr. Locher that Mr. Ross does not respond to his let- <br />ters <br />Mr. Schumacher reported that Mr. Ross had been in and discussed this with him and <br />found out that he would like to keep the front portion of the building. The major <br />concern about the building is an expensive electric system that is connected with the <br />liquor store. <br />The possibility of just restoring the front portion of the building had been dis- <br />cussed with the Building Official and he had felt that the entire building is unsafe <br />and should be completely torn down. <br />Mr. McLean felt this Council should proceed with the recommendation of the Building <br />Official. Mayor Gourley agreed. There was some discussion on the cost of repairing <br />this building and the value of the building. <br />Mr. Landol has one estimate of the value of the building - $25,616.00 - 50% cost for <br />permitted repair not to exceed $12,808.00. Mr. Walt Williams had sent a letter with <br />an estimate of the cost to repair $858.00. <br />Mr. Kluegel had consulted with a Mr. Bill Smith of Roseville, who had said it would <br />cost approximately $10,000.00, to restore to a safe condition. 'Mr. Kluegel felt <br />that this Is well above the 50% value of the building and recommended that the build- <br />ing be razed. <br />Mr. Locher reported on the court hearing for the Tobish building and the Judge would <br />
