•
STAFF ORIGINATOR:
CITY COUNCIL
MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
AGENDA ITEM 6H
Michael Grochala
November 26, 2007
Resolution No. 07 -195, Approving Change Order No.
8, Lake Drive /35W Improvement Project
VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 Vote Required
BACKGROUND:
On May 14, 2007 the City Council awarded the Lake Drive /I -35W Improvement Project
to Lunda Construction Company in the amount of $7,531,701.71. The east side of the
bridge is nearing completion. The traffic switch from the old bridge to the new one is
completed and the old bridge was removed as of November 17.
Change Order No. 8 is required to minimize the back slope from the Marshan Infiltration
pond adjacent to an existing residential property. As currently graded, the back slope is
to steep to insure stabilization. The neighboring property owner has also raised
concerns regarding the steepness of the slope and screening issues. While the pond
can be regraded to address the stabilization concerns, staff is recommending the
addition of the retaining wall to provide a more suitable grade and landscaping to the
area adjacent to the residential property.
The total cost of Change Order No. 8 is $8,662.49. Funding for unanticipated
construction expenses was included within the project budget. With the approval of
Change Order No. 8 the project budget will still include $227,385 for contingency
purposes.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 07 -195.
ATTACHMENTS
1.
