Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: December 17, 2007 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 07 -207, Approving Payment Request No. 1 <br />(Final), Sandhill Drive Storm Sewer Removal, Cleaning, <br />and Reinstallation. <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Through routine street patching maintenance on Sandhill Drive during the week of September <br />28, 2007, Public Works discovered a sinkhole caused by joint separation in the storm sewer pipe. <br />After further investigation of the Sandhill Drive area on October 1 it was determined that the <br />storm sewer pipe would need to be removed, cleaned and reinstalled to prevent further roadway <br />damage and to maintain safe driving conditions on Sandhill Drive. The City Council accepted <br />quotes and authorized a contract with Glenn Rehbein Excavating, Inc on October 8, 2007 for the <br />Sandhill Drive Storm Sewer Removal, Cleaning and Reinstallation. <br />Glenn Rehbein Excavating, Inc. is requesting City approval of Payment No. 1(Final) in the <br />amount of $38,720.20. Included in this pay estimate is Change Order No. 1 in the amount of <br />$4,780.00 which covers the replacement of damaged pipe. Also included in this pay estimate is <br />Compensating Change Order No. 2 in the deduct amount of $3,808.80, a copy of the pay estimate <br />and change orders are attached. <br />Staff recommends approval of Payment No. 1 (Final) in the amount of $38,720.20, which results. <br />The total project cost is approximately 2.5% above the accepted quote of $37,749.00 due to the <br />replacement of damaged pipe. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 07 -207, Approving Payment Request No. 1 (Final) <br />for the Sandhill Drive Storm Sewer Removal, Cleaning, and Reinstallation. <br />
