He also noted that the City is
not in the good graces of RCWD and will have to work with this
agency as well as the DNR and Corp of Engineers to find a solu-
tion to the problem. He asked the City Administrator to do some
checking in this area and relay the information as well as the
Council actions on this matter to Mr. Smith who will act as
spokesman for his area.
Mrs. Jaworski asked if it would be possible to have the whole
Chain of Lakes dredged. Mayor Benson said he did not know if
this was feasible but felt it would be costly. Mr. Marier felt
the governing bodies would not consider dredging in light of what
happened to Reshanau Lake the last time dredging was attempted.
Mr. Sweeny said dredging the lake would only make it a bigger hold -
ing pond. By his calculations it would take four days for all the
runoff water to reach Reshanau Lake. He proposed devising a met-
hod to keep runoff from reaching the lake.
Mr. Marier moved to accept the petition as presented and have the
Council and staff pursue the right approach to accomplish the end
result. Mr. Bisel seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Doyle of 7006 West Shadow Lake Drive thanked the City for the
help in protecting his home. He expressed concern that his home
was built below the 100 year flood elevation.
C. Joanne Weis, LaMotte Drive Drainage Problems - Mrs. Weis ex-
plained her lot is on LaMotte Road and her back yard faces a va-
cant field. Run off water comes from Centerville Road down a
drainage ditch near or in the water works easements and floods
her property. The drainage ditch is clogged as well as a culvert
Mr. Hoffmeister, a resident of LaMotte Drive, explained the prob-
lem has been compounded by the development east of Centerville
Road. The runoff from this development flows to the clogged
ditch causing additional flooding problems in his area.
Mrs. Weis asked who was responsible for getting the ditch to func-
tion properly. Mr. Toddie explained it would depend on if it were
a private ditch or a county ditch.
Mr. Marier moved to look into this situation through the staff and
report back to the Council. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion.
Motion carried unanimously. Mayor Benson asked that the staff get
back to Mrs. Weis when additional information is available.
RESOLUTION #11 -86, DENYING TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP OF GROUP W CABLE T.V.
Mr. Marier moved to adopt Resolution #11 -86 and waive the reading
except the title. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. The Clerk
read the title of the Resolution. Motion passed unanimously.
