118
COUNCIL MEETING
June 23, 1986
Page Two
Mr. Al Ross asked Ms. Brown if she worked with area churches.
She said she did and made it a point of calling all the churches
to offer her services.
The Council thanked Ms. Brown for coming tonight.
Mike Holmes - Truck Parking - Mr. Holmes, 7769 Country Lane ap-
peared tonight to discuss the parking of large vehicles on resi-
dential lots. He had talked to the Council about this matter
some time ago. The City Code states that there will be no park-
ing of vehicles weighing over 11,075 lbs. on residential lots.
However, at the time he discussed this with the Council it was
decided that this portion of the City Code would not be enforced,
only upon complaint basis.
There has been a complaint received regarding a semi truck trailer
parked on Mr. Holmes property. Mr. Holmes explained it is a 30
foot army mobile office trailer that he plans to restore and use
as a home at his lake property. It would be brought back and forth
to his home much as a travel trailer. Mr. Holmes has talked to his
neighbors and they are not bothered by this vehicle.
Mr. Kluegel explained he did receive an anonymous complaint that
this trailer was being used for storage. Mr. Holmes said it was
not being used for storage, however he was working on it.
Mr. Kluegel said he has a problem with the Council decision regard-
ing large vehicles on residential lots. He feels he will receive
additional requests if Mr. Holmes is allowed to continue on his lot.
Mayor Benson asked that Mr. Schumacher and Mr. Kluegel bring a
recommendation on this matter at a future Council Meeting.
Mr. Marier noted that Mr. Kluegel is responsible for enforcing
the City Code.
Representatives from Regional Transit Board, Discuss Transportation
Issues in Lino Lakes - Mr. Elliot Perovich, Mr. Bernard Skrebes and
Ms. Katie Turnbull appeared before the City Council to discuss Re-
gional Transit_ They were before the Council in response to a let-
ter they had received from Mr. Schumacher.
Mr. Perovich is Chairman of the Regional Transit Board and outlined
the structure of the Board. This Board was created by the legis-
lature in 1984 for the purpose of planning transit, adMinistration
of transit, preparing a Transit Service needs assessment and im-
plementing transit plans. He explained that currently Lino Lakes
is serviced by three Metro services; one MTC express route, two
MTC local route and one private local route (Lorenz Bus Company).
Mr. Perovich also explained how the Transit Board is funded with
approximately 40% - 45% coming from property taxes. He also noted
that more and more of this funding is coming from property taxes.
