1
1
COUNCIL WORK SESSION MARCH 9, 1987
A Work Session of the Lino Lakes City Council with City Engineer Ron
Stahlberg started at 5:00 PM with dinner in the Senior Center. Mayor
Benson, Council members Marier, Bisel, Reinert, and Bohjanen were
present. Public Works Director, Don Volk and Clerk - Treasurer, Marilyn
Anderson were also present.
Mr. Stahlberg displayed a map showing all the developable areas in
Lino Lakes. He explained the yellow area is the area he is proposing
to be included within the MUSA line for services before the year 2000
and the green area is planned for services after the year 2000. Mr
Stahlberg noted that the City has been allotted an additional seven
hundred acres to be included in the MUSA line and he is determining
what areas should be added to the present boundaries. He has been to
Metro Council and feels he has a good chance of selling them the map
he has outlined but if he has to exclude some areas he is suggesting
excluding the West Shadow Lake Drive area and the area east of
Pheasant Run. Mr. Stahlberg will do his best to get. Metro Council to
accept the map as now drawn.
The first overlay on the map shows potential areas of development and
the number of residential units that could be built in that area. The
second overlay shows a layout of the municipal sewer system. Mr.
Stahlberg's question regarding this map is where will the interceptor
enter Lino Lakes from Shoreview. Mr. Marier asked Mr. Stahlberg to
explain the situation regarding the interceptor on Centerville Road
just south of Lino Lakes. Mr. Stahlberg did not know this situation
and Mr. Marier asked him to check on this as he heard that it will be
brought to the Lino Lakes border.
The third overlay on the map shows the municipal water system. Mr.
Stahlberg is looking at an area near where Tomahawk Trail meets Birch
Street on the Lehman property for a location of the water storage
tower. He noted that Mr. Rehbein has offered a site just north of
Shenandoah Park for a tower but feels the soils may not be suitable.
He is open to suggestions from the Council for a tower location and
feels more than one tower may be needed. Computer calculations will
determine if more than one is needed and the vicinity where they
should be located. There was discussion on the size of the area one
tower serves. Factors to be considered are fire protection and land
use.
Mayor Benson asked if the tower at the prison could be used in the
service of the area north of 35W. Mr. Stahlberg said possibly as a
backup since it is small.
Page 1
oo.
