1
1
1
STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS - 1986 to 1987
As Mayor of the City, I have made it a practice to inform
the residents of Lino Lakes of current conditions and anticipated
activities and trends for our City in 1987.
In this year's State of the City Address, I will briefly
review the following areas of interest:
1. Economic development and Community Growth.
2. Police, Fire and Ambulance Service
3. Municipal Finances and Strategic Planning
4. Public works, improvement projects and parks
COMMUNITY GROWTH
1986 has proven to be our best construction year since 1979.
We anticipate the housing market to remain strong in 1987 due to
the stabilized interest rates. The City's valuation increased
over $3 million in 1986. A total of 277 building permits were
issued, of which 147 were single- family houses.
With the development pressures the City had been experiencing,
the Council felt it necessary to conduct a Strategic Planning
Session to encompass all issues affected by these development
pressures.
These areas included updating of the City's Comprehensive
Plan. This project was spearheaded by a City Council appointed
Task Force working closely with the consulting planner and
planning commission. Final approval of this Plan is expected
in April.
013
