076 <br />COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 13, 1987 <br />Warren Schlichting, 1017 Lantern Circle - Mr. Schlichting was <br />concerned because nice trees and wildlife would be disturbed. He als <br />asked who would pay the cost of completing the drainage work. Mr. <br />Stahlberg explained that the work would be done by Mr. Uhde at no cos <br />to the residents or the City. This is a chance to develop wet lots <br />and provide drainage as was originally intended. Mr. Reinert noted <br />that the residents were originally notified that they could buy <br />something of value but now it seems that the property will not be of <br />much value. <br />Mr. Schlichting said that if something is to be done he would like to <br />see it done as soon as possible so that the residents can purchase a <br />portion if they wish and landscape and fence it this summer. <br />Mr. Bisel said he would like to see a proposal before he made his <br />decision. Mr. Stahlberg was asked to provide a plan of drainage to <br />the Council for their review. <br />ATTORNEY'S REPORT - BILL HAWKINS <br />Mr. Hawkins did not have a report. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Status of Acquisition of Concrete Pipe - Tewes Crossing - Mr. <br />Stahlberg explained the City did purchase the concrete pipe to be us <br />on 4th Avenue and also acquired concrete plank for the Tewes crossin <br />Mr. Volk suggested that Mr. Tewes be asked to sign a waiver obsolving <br />the City from any future responsibility for this crossing for such <br />possibilities as Mr. Tewes driving his tractor off the edge of the <br />culvert. Mr. Hawkins will draft a form for Mr. Tewes to sign and Mr. <br />Stahlberg will provide Mr. Hawkins with a description of the property <br />and culvert crossing. <br />Economic Development Committee - Mayor Benson read Mr. Schumacher's <br />memo regarding the search for members for this committee. As of today <br />there has been no response to the ad for members. Mayor Benson asked <br />that Mr. Schumacher notify one applicant for the Planning and Zoning <br />Board of this committee and determine if this person would be <br />interested in serving in this capacity. He also asked that Mr. <br />Schumacher inform the Council of the personal reasons why former <br />committee members declined to serve again. He asked that Mr. <br />Schumacher let him know who he sent letters to as well. <br />Mr. Bisel was concerned that this committee get going. Mr. Reinert <br />noted that there must be a problem when the City cannot get people to <br />serve and he also wanted to know why former members declined. <br />PAGE 11 <br />1 <br />
