BUDGET MEETING <br />October 6, 1986 <br />Page Four <br />Computer <br />Chief Campbell explained the computer he is considering <br />would give this Police Department the ability to tie into <br />the state in the future. <br />Four Wheel Drive Vehicle <br />This would be a replacement of one of the current vehicles. <br />Overlay Programs <br />There is $40,000.00 in the budget. This would mean that <br />about a mile and one half to a mile and two thirds of what <br />is scheduled for 1987 will not be completed unless another <br />$30,000.00 is added to the budget. There are also other <br />streets not addressed in this program that need attention. <br />Public Works Building and Fire Hall <br />This will be addressed at the strategic planning session. <br />Mr. Marier asked why a new public works building is needed. <br />Mr. Volk said to house vehicles. Mr. Marier wondered if it <br />was prudent to house vehicles. Mr. Volk said the idea <br />is to keep fluids warm so that the vehicle operates as <br />efficiently as possible. <br />Regarding the water surface management plan, Mr. Reinert sug- <br />gested that Senator Dahl come before the Council and ex- <br />plain what he can do to coordinate plans. <br />Mayor Benson suggested looking at including these items in <br />the budget: <br />1. Siren program (maybe not $13,000.00) <br />2. Replace radar units <br />3. $50,000.00 additional in overlay program <br />4. Computer (Cost less if tie into our own) <br />5. Four -wheel drive vehicle (one a year) <br />6. $20,000.00 reserve <br />7. One mill increase <br />Mr. Marier presented his view: <br />1. Surface water management 1987, 11 1988 <br />2. Overlay program - look at other surplus <br />to fund this program <br />1 <br />
