1 <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />February 9, 1987 <br />Page Two <br />A special meeting of the Council and the Planning and Zoning Board <br />took place earlier this evening to discuss this issue and others. <br />The four P & Z Boardmembers present at that meeting were in favor <br />of continuing with a 7- member board. <br />MOTION: Mr. Marier moved to continue with a 7- member Planning and <br />Zoning Board and disapprove Ordinance 03 -87 which would create a <br />5- member board. Mr. Reinert seconded the motion. Motion passed <br />with Mr. Bisel and Mr. Bohjanen voting no. <br />APPOINTMENTS TO PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD <br />The three vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Board were filled as <br />follows: <br />MOTION: Mr. Bohjanen moved to appoint Jeff Joyer to the P & Z Board. <br />Mr. Bisel seconded the motion which carried with Mr. Marier voting no. <br />MOTION: Mr. Marier moved to appoint Charles Prokop to the P & Z <br />Board. Mr. Bisel seconded the motion which carried unanimously. <br />MOTION: Mr. Marier moved to appoint Allen Irwin to the P & Z Board. <br />Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion which carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Benson thanked all the candidates and told Tom Weirnes that the <br />fact that he is new to the community was not in his favor. He told <br />Mr. Weirnes that there are other boards within the City government <br />which need members, particularly the Economic Development Committee, <br />and solicited his involvement with these Boards. <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPROVING RESOLUTION NO. 02 -87 AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAIN STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br />Mayor Benson reminded the audience that the following discussion <br />was to consider authorizing the Main Street Improvement Project <br />proposed by Anoka County, and was not an assessment hearing. <br />Mr. Schumacher stated for the record that the City Council received <br />this evening a petition with 39 signatures (not yet checked for valid- <br />ity) stating: <br />"The intent of this petition is to inform you that as <br />affected homeowners of the property for proposed road <br />improvements along Main Street, we are not in agreement <br />to pay the full cost of improvements. Obviously the <br />entire city will benefit from the improvements, therefore <br />we are asking the city to assume responsibility for their <br />portion of the cost." <br />108 <br />
