1
1
1
005
COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 14, 1987
tan Council has approved an additional 800+ acres to be added to the
urban service district. A map has been prepared showing the proposed
land use districts. Metropolitan Council is asking that this City
prepare a comprehensive sewer plan amendment. It appears that the
current sewer facilites in Lino Lakes may reach capacity within five
or six years and Metropolitan Waste Control needs as much lead time as
possible before upgrading of the present facility is required.
There was discussion regarding the trade -off that was made to acquire
the acreage for the urban service district extension to Main Street.
Mr. Marier asked what happens if the City runs short of development
space where the trade -off came from. Mr. Schumacher explained that
the City would approach Metropolitan Council and prove the need for
additional acreage in the urban sewer district. There should be no
problem if a need can be proven.
Item three of Metropolitan Council's letter dated August 24, 1987
indicates that Metro Council is still requiring a density of four
units per forty acres. The proposed Comprehensive Land Use Plan is
showing two areas of the City with 2 1/2 acre lot sizes. The Planning
and Zoning Board will be looking at this issue again at their next
meeting. However, the Task Force felt there is a lot of undevelopable
land in these designated areas and even though the lot sizes are
allowed to be 2 1/2 acres the overall density will be much less. Mr.
Schumacher suggested that the City Planner be instructed to prepare
documents to reflect the new 2 1/2 acre lot zones.
Mr. Marier moved to approve the Comprehensive Land Use Amendments as
presented tonight and adopt a map indicating the 2 1/2 acre lot sizes.
Mr. Bisel seconded the motion.
Rosemary Storberg, 6978 Lake Drive - Mrs. Storberg asked if
contamination could be a problem with the new lot size zoning. Mr.
Reinert said the City would have to deal with that issue if it arises.
Voting on the motion, motion carried unanimously.
CITY OF LINO LAKES
RESOLUTION 50 - 87
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 1987 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 473.864 allows and encourages general
purpose local units of government to prepare comprehensive
plans; and,
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Land Planning Act of 1976 requires that
PAGE 4
