1 1 1 117 COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 14, 1987 a stipend for his time as chairman of the Centennial Fire Commission. The Council did not have a problem with this proposal. Mayor Benson noted receipt of a letter that had been written to Mr. Timmers regarding the construction on the lot next to his on LaMotte Road. NEW BUSINESS Annual Appointments Update - Mr. Schumacher noted that appointments are usually made at the first regular Council meeting each year. A preliminary list has been prepared for the Council and he asked for further direction. Mayor Benson asked that those individuals whose terms are expiring be contacted and asked if they wish to continue. He also asked that notices be placed in all three newspapers. Letter from Members of Circle -Lex Police Department - Mayor Benson noted receipt of a letter requesting that this City look into the possibility of combining Police Departments. Mayor Benson said he has talked to Mayor Dahl of Circle Pines about the matter. Mr. Marier noted a new Chief had been appointed in Circle Pines and said he was not interested in getting involved with Circle Pines Police Department. Mr. Bisel noted that bigger is not always better. Mr. Reinert felt if the suggestion was sincere, another chief would not have been appointed in Circle Pines. He suggested strengthening our work relationship or the mutual aid agreement. Mr. Bisel suggested that a reply be made stating that with the appointment of the new chief of police further discussion of combining the departments would be premature. Mayor Benson said this City would consider Lino Lakes providing service to that area if asked. Mr. Bohjanen moved to adjourn at 9:17 P.M. Mr. Bisel seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
