1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />117 <br />COUNCIL MEETING DECEMBER 14, 1987 <br />a stipend for his time as chairman of the Centennial Fire Commission. <br />The Council did not have a problem with this proposal. <br />Mayor Benson noted receipt of a letter that had been written to Mr. <br />Timmers regarding the construction on the lot next to his on LaMotte <br />Road. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Annual Appointments Update - Mr. Schumacher noted that appointments <br />are usually made at the first regular Council meeting each year. A <br />preliminary list has been prepared for the Council and he asked for <br />further direction. Mayor Benson asked that those individuals whose <br />terms are expiring be contacted and asked if they wish to continue. <br />He also asked that notices be placed in all three newspapers. <br />Letter from Members of Circle -Lex Police Department - Mayor Benson <br />noted receipt of a letter requesting that this City look into the <br />possibility of combining Police Departments. Mayor Benson said he has <br />talked to Mayor Dahl of Circle Pines about the matter. Mr. Marier <br />noted a new Chief had been appointed in Circle Pines and said he was <br />not interested in getting involved with Circle Pines Police <br />Department. Mr. Bisel noted that bigger is not always better. Mr. <br />Reinert felt if the suggestion was sincere, another chief would not <br />have been appointed in Circle Pines. He suggested strengthening our <br />work relationship or the mutual aid agreement. <br />Mr. Bisel suggested that a reply be made stating that with the <br />appointment of the new chief of police further discussion of combining <br />the departments would be premature. Mayor Benson said this City would <br />consider Lino Lakes providing service to that area if asked. <br />Mr. Bohjanen moved to adjourn at 9:17 P.M. Mr. Bisel seconded the <br />motion.
