State of the City Address <br />February 10, 1988 <br />This is the 7th State of the City Address I have given as <br />Mayor of Lino Lakes. In November I was elected to my 4th <br />term as Mayor. It has been my great privilage to serve our <br />community, and I look forward to working towards the <br />betterment of this City in this my new term. In addition to <br />my own re- election in November, Councilmen Bohjanen and <br />Marier were also re- elected. It was with great sadness <br />however, that last Wednesday evening the Council met and <br />scheduled a new election to take place this spring for the <br />vacancy left by the untimely death of Mr. Marier. <br />1987 was a year of unprecedented growth for Lino Lakes. It <br />was also a year in which the City Council, staff, and <br />advisory boards spent a great deal of time looking to the <br />future. Lino Lakes is at a pivotal point of its economic <br />and residential development. We felt it necessary to sit <br />down and do some long term planning and policy making. Many <br />metropolitan cities have developed their land and resources <br />with little regard to planning or forethought. Lino Lakes <br />has the good fortune of being on the outermost tier of <br />metropolitan development. This enabled us to look around <br />and learn from their mistakes, as well as their good points. <br />From others we have learned the value of planned residential <br />growth, and making the best of our natural resources.
