1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 11, 1988 <br />Authorization for Professional Services - West Central <br />Service Association - Mr. Stahlberg explained his request <br />for an amended Authorization for Engineering Services as <br />outlined in his letter of March 7, 1988. Mr. Bohjanen moved <br />to approve the engineering change as indicated and the <br />amount to be $17,900. Mr. Bisel seconded the motion. Mr. <br />Bisel stated he felt this project is essential to the <br />economic growth of the City. It was noted that items F <br />through K are already started and staff is meeting with <br />property owners so they know what is being proposed before <br />the public hearings. <br />Voting on the motion, motion carried unanimously. <br />ATTORNEY'S REPORT - BILL HAWKINS <br />Mr. Hawkins did not have a report. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Emergency Services Warning System - Mr. Schumacher explained <br />that the staff is currently putting together plans and <br />specifications for a warning system. The City of Fridley <br />has recently requested bids for a new electrical warning <br />system for their city and will be dismantling their current <br />mechanical system. Mr. Schumacher has checked with Mr. <br />Wojak at the County and was told most cities in Anoka County <br />are still on the mechanical system and suggested that Lino <br />Lakes look at purchasing some of Fridleys 1975 mechanical <br />models. He will have further information on this within a <br />month. <br />Mayor Benson explained that he has received calls from some <br />citizens expressing concern because there is no warning <br />system for the upcoming tornado season. There was <br />discussion on how long it would take to get the sirens <br />operational if they were purchased from Fridley. <br />Mayor Benson asked Mr. Schumacher to report to the Council <br />regarding whether or not these sirens were out of date, the <br />costs of these sirens and the costs of the electrical <br />sirens. He will also determine who this City may deal with <br />in obtaining some of Fridley's sirens or if Lino Lakes can <br />tag along on Fridley's bid for the new electrical sirens. <br />Water Main Crossing Rice Creek Update - Mr. Stahlberg <br />explained that Ranger Construction is proceeding with <br />crossing Rice Creek by the most economical method, pushing a <br />PAGE 13 <br />015 <br />
