032
COUNCIL MEETING
APRIL 25, 1988
. Anderson, Clerk- Treasurer
Variance, Paul Irvine, Shoreland Setback - Mr. Irvine is
considering purchasing the property at 7425 Peltier Lake
Drive and is requesting a variance to build a garage and an
addition to the house which is located within the Shoreland
Management area. His purchase agreement is contigent upon
acceptance of the variance request and the landowner has
signed a document indicating that he is aware of Mr.
Irvine's request for the variance. The P & Z Board did have
one concern and that is that the neighbor was required to
build his house outside of the Shoreland Management area.
Mr. Irvine did check with this neighbor and found that the
builder of the house has since moved and the new neighbor
has no problem with this variance request.
Mr. Bisel moved to approve application No. 88 - 10 contigent
upon the closing of the property to Mr. Irvine. Mr.
Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried with Mr.
Reinert abstaining.
Mr. Kluegel told the Council that he has issued building
permits for thirty nine new homes and noted that he has
received many telephone calls regarding the sale of the
Montain property. It appears that he will have a very busy
season.
Mayor Benson asked Mr. Kluegel about a new home under
construction on Lantern Lane. It appears that there is a
large dropoff between this new home and the home to the
east. Mr. Kluegel explained that FHA requires that the
builder maintain a certain basement elevation requiring this
house to be built higher than the neighbor. A swale is
being constructed between the two houses to be sure there is
proper drainage.
ENGINEER'S REPORT - RON STAHLBERG
Update on Trunk Watermain Crossing - Mr. Stahlberg explained
that the crossing was attempted again and it appeared that
there might be a problem with the stability of Highway #49.
Twin City Testing is now looking for the best construction
method to take on this. Twin City Testing will be issuing a
report on this shortly. Mr. Stahlberg will keep the Council
informed on this matter.
ATTORNEY'S REPORT - BILL HAWKINS
PAGE 12
