171 <br />CO7 CIL MEETING AUGUST 8, 1988 <br />r Benson gave a brief background on this matter <br />exp M and <br />e p ed that the Council is trying to accomodate over -the- <br />road truckers. <br />Mr. and Mrs. Clausen were in the audience and were concerned <br />about keeping their area residential. They asked the <br />Council to enforce the current ordinance. Mr. Cordell said <br />he could understand the concern of the Clausens but felt <br />that trucks should be allowed on larger parcels of land. He <br />noted that the truck owners have a large investment and <br />basically he said he had a problem with two portions of the <br />proposed ordinance; 1) amount of time allowed to park the <br />unit, 2) distance from the nearest residence. <br />After further discussion Mayor Benson asked that Mr. Miller <br />redraft the ordinance incorporating what he could from Mr. <br />Cordell's proposal. He also asked Mr. Kluegel to prepare a <br />list of problem areas so that the Council may go out and <br />view the problems. This matter is to be placed on the <br />September 12, 1988 Council agenda. <br />Charter Commission - Mr. Reinert asked that it be clarified <br />a o what the Charter Commission can expect in the way of <br />a stance from City staff. Mr. Schumacher explained that <br />is an independent commission similar to the Fire <br />Co7!'lbission. The Charter Commission should elect its own <br />secretary, prepare its own minutes and publish notices of <br />meetings. Mr. Reinert felt the Commission should have some <br />support from the City. <br />Response to Nita Fenno's Letter - Mr. Schumacher explained <br />that a response to Mrs. Fenno's letter has been prepared and <br />mailed to all persons in the Ulmer's Rice Lake Addition <br />area. Mr. Bisel also noted that he and Mr. Neal have been <br />out in that neighborhood and talked to some of the <br />residents. <br />Mayor Benson said that he has sent a letter to Mr. Robert <br />Mattson and thanked him. for attending the meeting regarding <br />gambling licenses. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Gary Uhde's Request to Purchase Tax Forfeit Lots - Mr. <br />Schumacher explained that Mr. Uhde is interested in <br />purchasing two lots that are currently tax forfeit. This <br />wo d involve the City obtaining title to the lots and then <br />ad tising the lots for sale. Mr_ Uhde would guarantee <br />PA is 18 <br />
