218 <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION SEPTEMBER 12, 1988 <br />Mayor Benson opened the Council Work Session at 6:15 P.M., <br />Monday, September 12, 1988. Council Members present: Neal, <br />Bisel, Bohjanen and Reinert. Council Members absent: none. <br />City Administrator, Randy Schumacher and Clerk - Treasurer, <br />Marilyn Anderson were also present. <br />Jeff Johnson representing Leadr's software explained his <br />background and Leadr's background with law enforcement <br />software. He handed out a brochure and a letter and briefly <br />outlined the brochure. He explained the programs are very <br />easy to learn. The software is completely supported and two <br />full days of training are included in his sales package. <br />Mr. Bisel asked if this software could be tied into the <br />County system. Mr. Johnson said yes but this may be on a <br />limited basis. He noted that the program is completely tied <br />into the State system. <br />Mayor Benson asked about costs for the system. Mr. Johnson <br />said this would depend upon how many programs are purchased. <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that Officer Keller is looking into <br />what programs would be needed at this time. Mr. Schumacher <br />estimated that the costs would be between $8,000.00 and <br />$12,000.00. <br />Support costs were discussed. Mr. Johnson explained that <br />normally these costs amount to about 10% of the cost of the <br />software. <br />Mr. Bisel asked about the hardware for this progam. Mr. <br />Johnson explained that the software is IBM compatible and <br />suggested an IBM model 60 or 70. <br />Mr. Schumacher told Mr. Johnson that he would be contacting <br />him in about a week or ten days after he has the opportunity <br />to look at the budget closer. <br />Mr. Jeff Christianson of Banyon Data Systems gave a brief <br />background on Banyon Systems and noted that many of the <br />people in the company have been in the business for over <br />thirty years. Mr. Christianson briefly outlined the <br />software available and noted that all modules interface with <br />word processing. This software is IBM compatible and he <br />said a Model 70 IBM would work very well with the software. <br />PAGE 1 <br />
