COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />FEBRUARY 12, 1990 <br />Mayor Bisel called a work session of the Lino Lakes City <br />Council to order at 6:38 P.M. Council Members present: <br />Neal, Kuether, Reinert. Council Members absent: Bohjanen. <br />City Administrator, Randy Schumacher and Clerk - Treasurer, <br />Marilyn Anderson were also present. <br />The purpose of the work session was to list goals for the <br />City to accomplish in 1990 and to list goals for the City <br />Administrator for 1990. <br />GOALS FOR THE CITY <br />Council Member Neal suggested the following goals for the <br />City: <br />- Construct two (2) bays on Fire Station No. 2 and this will <br />eliminate the need for a new fire station in the near <br />future. <br />- Get started on senior housing. <br />- Add at least two (2) additional police officers to the <br />Police Department. <br />- Start an Auxiliary Police Department with at least ten (10) <br />officers. <br />- Start a system called Senior Care Calls. The Anoka County <br />Sheriff is currently setting up such a system for the <br />Sheriff's Department. This would insure that seniors be <br />contacted on a periodic basis to determine if there is a <br />problem. <br />- Put someone on the school board as a liaison. He noted <br />that this is a secret organization and the Council would <br />not believe what is going on there. <br />Mayor Bisel suggested the following goals for the City: <br />- Establish zoning for adequate commercial /industrial lands. <br />- Complete a fire study and also a study of police office <br />space and make recommendations for implementing study. <br />- Investigation and report of refuge haulers franchise before <br />end of the year. <br />- "Computerize Projects ". Investigate and see how to <br />implement this program. <br />Council Member Reinert suggested the following goals for the <br />City: <br />- Solid Waste pickup 'assigned to a person in projection <br />formation. <br />- Improve City entrances. Currently most entrances are <br />"trashy" and suggested this be assigned as a project. <br />Possibility landowners, the City Forester and Mr. Asleson <br />could be involved. <br />- License all builders. This would give the City a better <br />handle on them. Mayor Bisel noted that this will come as a <br />recommendation from the Economic Development Committee. <br />1 <br />
