COUNCIL MINUTES MARCH 12, 1990 the motion. On a roll call vote, motion carried unanimously. Discussion of City Council Starting Time - Council Member Neal moved that since Council meetings are now cable casted, the Council should consider meeting at 1:00 P.M. rather than at 7:00 P.M. Council Member Reinert seconded the motion. Mayor Bisel said that would be very inconvenient for the Council Members who have to work. He also asked how this would affect public hearings. Would public hearings have to be held at a separate time so that the public would have opportunity to appear? Council Member Reinert said that the thought is good and maybe some meetings could be held earlier. Council Member Neal said that since some meetings run so long, public hearings could be placed at the end of the agenda and then they would be held close to the time the Council would normally be starting. Mr. Schumacher said that there are some cities who do hold council meetings late in the afternoon and suggested they be contacted to see how they handle public hearings. Mayor Bisel said the Administrator should check the Charter to see if there is any language regarding this matter. Council Member Neal moved to hold his motion and Council Member Reinert said he would hold his second until Mr. Schumacher returns to the Council with further information. Motion carried unanimously. Reminder of Spring Recycling Day, May 5, 1990 - Mr. Schumacher included in the Council packets information regarding the spring recycling day. He noted that there will be assistance from the various organizations involved with this project. This is for Council information only. Council Member Bohjanen told the Council that he was awaken at 2:30 A.M. by the Lino Lakes Police Department because of an attempted break -in at the VFW. He commended the Police Department for their actions. The only damage was a hole in the wall and nothing was taken. Council Member Bohjanen asked anyone who has influence with their legislators to contact them to let them know that the proposed revised gambling laws will stop almost all of the donations now being made by charitable organizations. Mayor Bisel suggested that the addresses of our legislators be put on cable TV. Mr. Schumacher told the Council that he is prepared to come to the Council with a proposed two year contract for Local 49. The Council will meet on Thursday, March 15, 1990 at 3:30 P.M. to discuss the proposal. Council member Bohjanen moved to adjourn at 9:32 P.M. Council Member Reinert seconded the motion. Aye.
