He said other police entities could also
bid for the Centerville contract. Mayor Bisel said he did
not see why this City should disclose its costs to
Centerville.
Council Member Neal explained that one of the council members
in Centerville wants to establish a Centerville Police
Department. This would give the Centerville Council control .
over their own police department.
Chief Campbell told the Council that Centerville has been
satisfied with the level of service provided by the Lino
Lakes Police Department. However, they do have a problem
with the costs. A new formula is now in place and Chief
Campbell felt the new formula would get the costs up to where
they should be. Mayor Bisel said that he knew of no other
government that sold a service and did not make a profit on
the service.
Mr. Schumacher said he has been in contact with the City of
Centerville and noted that there biggest concern is that they
do not want to see a large adjustment every year. Mayor
Bisel suggested that a two (2) year budget would take care of
this matter. Council Member Bohjanen said that Centerville
is aware there will be increased costs, but they are afraid
that there will be a big increase in the contract.
LIOUOR LICENSING
Mrs. Anderson told the Council that she will be bringing the
liquor licenses to the Council for renewal. She noted that
two (2) of the establishments were in violation of the City
Liquor Code residency requirement. Mrs. Anderson said she
will be asking the Council to amend the City Code to delete
this requirement. The City Attorney had recommended tb?is
amendment noting that it would be impossible to requir< an
organization such as Holiday Inn to comply with the pr=sent
City Code.
The work session was adjourned at 5:10 P.M.
These minutes were considered, corrected and approved a
regular Council meeting held on July 9, 1990.
L
G.
