1
1
1
May 28, 1974
Mr. Clausen and Mrs. Kendall are putting together the same sort of plan for Sunrise.
The long range plans for the Parks is under the supervision of Mrs. Brission and
Mrs. Letourneau and is not ready at this time.
Mrs. Kendall had moved to recommend to the Council the second ball diamond be built
at the Hall property, this to be staked by Mr. Resch and Mr. Kent. Graded and Lime
stone be spread, backstops to be put together with materials available at the Hall
and the total cost to be limited to $300.00. This diamond will be on the West side
of the present one but home plate will be parallel with Main Street and the base
lines will angle from there. Home plate will be set back as far as possible to
avoid having to be moved in case Main Street is widened. Mr. McLean so moved.
Seconded by Mr. Marier. Motion carried. Mr. Backlin is to make arrangements for work
and materials.
If these diamonds are to be used on a regular basis, the requests for such use
must be cleared through the Park Board and all such request should be given to the
Clerk before the meetings.
Mr. McLean said that he had not signed the requisition for the mower. He felt that
this one was not heavy enough for the use that would be required by the Park
Department. He had talked to Mr. Hagen and he will look at the one we presently
have and see if it can be repaired for the present. Mr. McLean will check into some
heavy duty mowers.
Mr. McLean questioned Mr. Hagen about the gate to be installed at Sunrise Park. Mr.
Hagen said there is some pipe in the back and some netting to be used but they do
not have it together as yet. Mr. McLean requested that this gate be installed within
the next two weeks.
Mr. McLean had tried to contact Mr. Gadbois of North Surburban Fence to find out
the delay in the installation of the fence at Lino Park. He had been unable to
contact Mr. Gadbois but had left a message with his wife. Mr. McLean said that this
is causing a delay in the seeding and sodding of that Park. He asked Mr. Locher
what would be the position of the City in a case such as this.
Mr. Locher felt that a letter stating that damage is being done to the grounds and
if the fence isn't installed within 10 days then Mr. Gadbois will be responsible for
further damages done to the Park. Also inform him that the delay in installing this
fence had caused a delay in plans for the landscaping of the Park.
Mr. McLean asked if there had been any work on the formation of the Open Space
Advisory Board. He was told that there has not been.'Mr. McLean asked that a letter
be written to Mr. Dave Torkildson and Mr. Robert Parta asking that this Board be
set up as soon as possible following up with the agreement. In lieu of no information
to date, the Council would request that the finalazation of this agreement be done
by setting this Board membership.
Mr. Marier asked if Mr. Jaworski had prepared a schedule for road repairs? Mayor
Bohjanen said it was to be presented at this meeting, he was sure Mr. Jaworski
would have it ready for the next meeting. He will talk to Mr. Jaworski.
Mr. Zelinka had no report.
