June 24, 1974
Mr. Clyde Rehbein had left a copy of a variance he had obtained for the trade of two
rectangular parcels of land between Mr. Rehbein and Mr. Bakken. The Board felt that
this should be checked by Mr. Locher and had moved to refer this to the Attorney. Mr. III
Marier so moved. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mr. McLean reported on the meeting of the Park Board held on Monday, June 17, 1974.
Sunrise Park had been inspected after the campers had left and was in excellent
condition. The Board felt that they should be commended. The deposit is still
being held in order for the phone bill to be cleared. As soon as this can be done, the
deposit is to be returned.
The backstop. is staked for the second diamond at the Hall property and some work
has been done on the ground.
Mr. Jaworski asked if there is a master plan for the developing of this Park. Mr.
McLean said, Yes, it is still in the preliminary stages, but the placement of this
diamond is in conformance with those plans.
The fence at Lino park is still not finished. Mr. McLean reported that he has
contacted the contractor many times with no results. In the future, such projects
as this :should require a performance bond. Mr. Marier suggested that the man not be
paid until the work is completed. Mr. McLean said that no money would be spent
until the fence is in and inspected.
There was some discussion of Mr. LeVessuer's objections to the fence being put to
within 5 feet of the right -of -way. Mr. McLean said this is a Council matter and if
Mr. LeVessuer had objections, he should attend a Council meeting and present his
objections. In the meantime, the fence should be completed as planned. If the
decision to move it at a later date is the decision of the Council, then it will
have to be moved.
Mr. Jaworski felt that if the fence is not installed as planned, the Park will
loose control of the parking area. This was one of the main reasons for the
installation of the fence.
Mr. Marier said the lines were drawn, a survey made, deeds signed and the entire
action agreed to by both parties.
Mr. Bohjanen said he would try to get Mr. LeVessuer to attend the next Council
meeting.
Mr. Zelinka wondered if the contractor is being influenced by Mr. LeVessuer.
Mr. McLean moved to install the fence to within five feet of the right -of -way.
Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried.
Mr. McLean also reported that the snow fence has been installed along the East Line
and across the gate opening. As soon as the location of the backstop for the ball
diamond is staked work will begin on the seeding and sodding will begin.
The Park Board also asked the Council to ask the County to install signs denoting
a park area adjacent to Lino Park and the Hall property. The Clerk was instructed
to write to the County Highway Department with this request.
1
1
