1
1
1
August 26, 1974
The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes City Council was called to order at 8:05
p.m. on August 26, 1974 by Mayor Bohjanen. Councilmen present; Jaworski, Marier,
McLean. Absent; Zelinka. Mr. Locher was also present.
Mr. Marier moved to approve the minutes of August 12, 1974 as written. Seconded
by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mr. Jaworski moved to approve the minutes of the special meeting of August 16,
1974 as written. Seconded by Mr. Marier. Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen announced that at this time he would like to present a Citation
for Bravery to Patrolman Holman for his work in connection with the attempted
burglary at the Kronholm residence. Chief Myhre added his own thoughts saying
that Patrolman Holman did more than was expected of any man. He was very proud to
have such a man on the City's force.
The Clerk reported on the following items:
A letter from the Metropolitan Council giving notice of Review of the local
Comprehensive plan for White Bear Lake Township. Mr. McLean asked that the Clerk
request a -copy of this plan and that it be turned over to the Planning and
Zoning Board for study and comment.
Read a letter from Mr. Vincent Lombardi addressed to Mr. Erling Weiberg, Executive
Secretary of the Water Resources Board. Mr. Lombardi was concerned over the hearings
of the proposed Battle Creek Watershed. He felt that a joint powers agreement
rather than a watershed would better solve the problems in that area.
Read a letter from Mr. John Berends, of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture
concerning the lack of a tree inspector for Lino Lakes. Mr. Marier moved to
appoint Mr. R. V. Ellingsen as interim tree inspector until such time as a
permanent one can be hired. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried.
Had received notice of a hearing in the matter of proposed rules relating to the
State Commission on cable communications. This meeting will be held on Sept. 27,
1974 in the Auditorium of the State Office Building. Mr. Marier moved that the
Clerk request copies of these rules. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Had received copies of letters written to Mrs. Howlett on Baldwin Lake Road and
Mr. Reiling who owns property at the intersection of Highways #8 and #49. Mrs.
Howlett has until Sept. 16, 1974 to correct the situation on her property and the
problem located on the Reiling property had been corrected. Mr. Marier moved that
copies of letters such as these be submitted to the P &Z and copies for the Council-
men also in order for these men to keep abreast with the happenings in the City.
Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Had received a request from North Central Public Service for the extension of
a gas main located on 4th Avenue just South of Main Street. Mr. McLean moved to
refer this to Mr. Gotwald. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried.
Received notice that copies of the Minnesota Session Laws, 1974 will soon be available.
Mr. Marier moved to purchase one copy. Seconded by Mr. McLean.
